It’s an inevitable situation: you have your heart set on some piece of work and your manager tells you it’s deprioritized.

Or you discover that your manager has decided that your team should shrink so another team can grow. Maybe your manager is just telling you that they don’t agree that you should promote one of your team members this cycle, or that you can’t promote as many people as you want to. 

Whatever the decision, disagreements with your manager are bound to happen. When they do, it can be very stressful.
